At Axon, innovation isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a promise. A promise to continually advance technology that makes officers safer and helps ensure critical moments in the field are captured with clarity and context. Today, we’re proud to share the next chapter in this journey: a major expansion of Axon Signal technology that brings broader holster coverage through a first-of-its-kind partnership with Safariland, a leading global holster manufacturer.
Axon Signal is a cornerstone of the connected Axon ecosystem. Signal technology wirelessly alerts Axon body-worn and in-car cameras so that critical moments are captured on video when a TASER weapon is deployed, configured vehicle events occur (such as a door opening or lightbar activating), or a duty weapon is removed from its holster during an escalation.
This hands-free activation reduces the cognitive burden on officers in high-stress scenarios and allows them to focus on the task at hand instead of having to remember to activate their camera. By activating cameras based on configured criteria, Axon Signal technology helps ensure crucial incidents are documented. Activated cameras provide real-time situational awareness through livestreaming and alerts, allowing supervisors to make informed decisions and provide officers with timely support during an incident. After the fact, objective documentation from the cameras can be reviewed and shared with stakeholders to gain a better understanding of what happened and resolve investigations. Axon Signal plays a vital role in building transparency.
As part of our unwavering commitment to expand automatic activation capabilities by improving holster compatibility, we’ve partnered with Safariland, a global leader in holsters and duty gear.
This partnership has delivered nearly 30 fully integrated firearm holsters and 6 new Use of Force (UoF) pouches that are all built specifically to work with Signal Sensor automatic activation units for duty weapon holsters. This collaboration represents a leap forward in versatility and holster compatibility, allowing for the seamless integration of Signal technology into more holsters than ever before. Check your agency's holster compatibility with our Signal Sensor compatibility guide.
The solution previously known as Signal Sidearm is now Signal Sensor, reflecting the expansion of automatic activation capabilities to other Use of Force types, not just sidearms. Now, for incidents across the Use of Force spectrum, you can help ensure critical footage is captured, including uses of OC spray, batons, and handcuffs.
What’s available at a glance:
8 all-new integrated Ballast(TM) Duty Holster fits developed exclusively to be compatible with Signal Sensor, with additional models in development
6 Use of Force pouches designed for OC sprays, batons, and handcuffs, compatible with Signal Sensor
17 redesigned 6000 Series holsters from Safariland, now compatible with Signal Sensor
This partnership brings Axon Signal compatibility to more holsters than ever before.
Whether agencies are upgrading to new integrated gear or looking to retrofit existing holsters, Axon and Safariland are delivering the flexible and reliable solutions departments need to capture crucial evidence through hands-free activation.
The expansion in Signal Sensor technology goes beyond the Safariland partnership, delivering new levels of flexibility and coverage for agencies.
Coverage for 22 firearms from major manufacturers: Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, and Staccato
Expansion to ~1,000 compatible combinations of holsters and firearms
22 new Axon-built brackets built for existing holsters in the field
This expansion isn’t just about the number of compatible holsters — it’s about lives. It’s about giving officers the tools they need to stay safe and stay accountable, while ensuring that every critical moment is documented with clarity and integrity.
With more holsters, more compatibility, and more ways to activate Axon cameras in real-time, we’re advancing our mission to protect life, boost transparency, and improve public safety outcomes. We’re proud to lead the way alongside Safariland, and we’re just getting started.
